IET was formed in 1949 as International Aeradio EA Ltd and worked with Avionics Industry. In the eighties IET acquired the Motorola agency for Two-Way radio products and paging systems for East Africa. In 1998 the communications business was hived off into an associated company, ICS Ltd. In 1990 IET was appointed a Siemens agent in Kenya for A&D, PTD, I&S and PG and served the market for spare part needs and large infrastructure projects. in 1997 IET started to offer Siemens Simatic training in Kenya and over the years a need was identified for small to medium sized projects. In the last 3 years IET has successfully developed a strong local team of technical people who are able to offer Turn-key systems at affordable prices with a local presence. This has made IET unique in the market in niches such as Automation systems, Automation training etc. In 2001 IET was appointed Epcos AG agent for the E African Region. 2001 appointed Siemens representative for Uganda. Uganda operations started in August 2001.
