We are exporters of Ethiopian Oilseed, Ethiopian Coffee and Ethiopian Pulse and cereals. We also import edible oil, flour, used vehicles, etc. Oil seed exports overtook coffee as Ethiopia's biggest foreign exchange earner in 2009. Ethiopia, Africa's biggest coffee producer, is also the world's fourth largest exporter of sesame seeds but has for decades been exporting these products to world markets.
Ethiopia received $326 million from the sale of 261,216 tonnes oil seeds, mainly sesame, and another $321 million for 114,442 tonnes of coffee in 2009. We are one of the leading exporters of all types of Oilseed, Ethiopian Coffee and Ethiopian Pulse and cereals.
